This holiday season, Amber Scott, a dedicated Luling native and Hahnville High School alum, brought holiday cheer to students at Luling Elementary School through her heartfelt fifth annual Toy Drive and Giveaway. The joy on the faces of the children was truly inspiring, especially when one excited student arrived to see a sea of bicycles and toys waiting for them.
As the founder of the nonprofit organization The Divine 7, Amber’s mission is to spread joy to local children aged five and six during the Christmas season. This year, twelve lucky students—six boys and six girls—each received a new bicycle and several toys, creating memorable moments they will cherish forever.
Amber understands firsthand the challenges that many families face during the holidays.
I know Christmas can be very, very hard on families,” she shared. “We hear ‘remember the true meaning of Christmas’ so much—no child should have to go without. So we started the drive. Knowing that this can be such a difficult time for people, it feels really great to be able to do this and give something.
Her commitment to giving back extends beyond just toys; as a former New Orleans Saints cheerleader, Amber is also passionate about empowering youth through dance. She offers affordable dance performance training to children who might otherwise struggle to participate in such activities, believing in the importance of investing in the next generation. “Investing in our youth is important. That’s our future, our tomorrow,” she said.
The Toy Drive has grown from a simple idea that Amber and her husband brainstormed five years ago into a cherished annual tradition, supported by generous contributions from local business owners, friends, and family. Every holiday season, the toy drive not only fills the hearts of the children but also warms Amber’s heart as she witnesses the joy her efforts bring to the community.
